Juxtaposition

There's a major road/boulevard in KC that runs through a number of historic areas, including some moderately wealthy ones, on its way to the Country Club Plaza (a historic - and beautiful - shopping district). One stretch features statues at almost every intersection where a feeder street meets the main street.

...unfortunately, they also put various traffic signs right next to almost every statue, making it hard to get good pictures of the statues by themselves. ^^;; I had to settle for trying to incorporate the signs into the pictures.

Another example:

It was possible to get another angle on this one - but the lighting wasn't as good, and it's a side view that misses what the statue really looks like:

I think the statues + signs have an odd sort of character--mostly absurdity, but still, amusing in their own right!
