Down-and-Not-Quite-Dirty

One of the WWI Museum's exhibits is a simulation of the notorious trenches. It tries, and it doesn't exactly look pleasant, but... it just looks too clean, compared to everything I've read about the trenches. It's too much to ask them to recreate the reputed smells (eheh), but maybe some caked mud on the sandbags and the uniforms?
To be fair, normally you only get to look at the scene through a hole about six inches wide; I had to stick the camera into the hole to get this much of the scene.
