Another microcar from the Lane Motor Museum; this one intrigued me because the flat-panel shape reminded me of GI Joe and similar toys from when I was growing up. ^^;;

You know, I can't remember my younger sister playing with Barbies. It was Legos for both of us. :) (And for my niece and nephew... sis is keeping up the tradition well.) I'm pretty sure the off-road vehicle I had for my one GI Joe was a Barbie toy, though since we got it at a garage sale, I can't be sure...
We eventually got Legos, but I'm pretty sure that was later. We had a pretty tiny basic set of blocks, which mostly got used in making Lego "cars" that we "raced" against each other by shoving them and seeing which one got the farthest. :D I'm honestly intimidated by how fancy Legos have gotten! Even if we had the space (we don't) and I had the energy (I don't), I'd be too scared to get one of the fancy (and expensive) sets.
I've got a couple of friends who are adult Lego enthusiasts, and of course I buy vicariously for my niece/nephew. :) So after looking... I do think they've gone overboard with some of the really specialized 'blocks' in the fancy sets, but the basic ones are still there and still work just fine.
It's too bad there isn't a Lego Store in LA; they have a 'build a brick' thing where you have a wall with containers filled with all different kinds of bricks. You pay a flat price for a cup, which gets you all the bricks you can cram into the cup. :)
