Depth of field, yes! I was about 18 inches away, or thereabouts.
To get depth of field like this, you want three basic things:
A wide aperture (the opening on the lens that lets in light; it should be open just about as much as it can be)
Be reasonably close to the subject, with everything else a significant distance away
Zoom in, at least a fair amount; it's hard to get the separation when you're zoomed out to a wide-angle shot.
