Stages

This weekend was kind of a crazy one, and got rescheduled three times...

First plan, hit the Kansas City IrishFest one day, the RenFest another, and rest up the third day.

Second plan: Got a call from a friend down in Wichita, wanting me to come down and do some computer work for the weekend. Postponed the RenFest visit (since it's running six weekends), do IrishFest Saturday, drive down Sunday and work Sunday/Monday.

IrishFest went well...



Two major stages, plus three smaller ones, all running Irish music all day long. :) Got to the equivalent of four 1.5 hour concerts, bits and pieces of other acts, and had a heck of a good time. I love live concerts, particularly in a relatively intimate venue; the energy adds so much to the performance.

Third plan: Partway through the 3-hour drive to Wichita, got a text from my friend; his father's last sibling had passed away, and he was taking it hard; they needed to cancel that weekend. Turned around and started driving back; by that point, it was too late to do RenFest justice. I eventually ended up driving to Des Moines to see my dad; hadn't visited in a while, and he was having computer problems I couldn't diagnose over the phone.

Irony desu: about the time I hit the Iowa border, got another text from the Wichita guy apologizing for things falling apart. His dad was handling things better and things were settling down, and if I was still down there we could get together the next day so it wouldn't be a wasted trip. Oops. [wry g]
