Most of Kansas is, as you might have read in a book somewhere, rather flat. The Flint Hills area is one of the few exceptions. As you drive along I-35 between Emporia and El Dorado, there are several spots where you can look off to the side and watch the land drop away into a valley, then roll out miles and miles into the horizon. I've been trying for more than a decade to get a pic that captures the depth and three-dimensional feel; this is my latest attempt, and it did a better job than most, but it's still missing too much. :(

You're probably already familiar with this but a couple researchers actually "proved" mathematical-ish-ly that Kansas is flatter than a pancake, which is lolarious.

I've never been to Kansas, but I wonder if the incredibly blue sky is like the very blue everywhere sky I saw my one visit to Nebraska. :)
