Once Upon a House...

I love older houses like these. The rough-cut stone, the attic rooms - the sense that it's not a cookie-cutter house like so many out there. It looks like it's got its own personality.

Admittedly, I know older houses like that are often a bear to maintain; I have a friend who lives in a house built in the 1830's, and keeping things like the heating/cooling systems and the plumbing is like trying to shoehorn cats into a a carrier. But I still love the place, and would love to have the money to buy someplace like this and take care of it.

I'm normally insensitive to architecture (half my childhood in Seoul high-rises, what can I say), but that's sure pretty.
