Most of Kansas is, as you might have read in a book somewhere, rather flat. The Flint Hills area is one of the few exceptions. As you drive along I-35 between Emporia and El Dorado, there are several spots where you can look off to the side and watch the land drop away into a valley, then roll out miles and miles into the horizon. I've been trying for more than a decade to get a pic that captures the depth and three-dimensional feel; this is my latest attempt, and it did a better job than most, but it's still missing too much. :(
