So, just to give a quick update for what's been going on here: two weeks ago Tuesday my brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. Wednesday they determined it was untreatable and he had about two weeks left, so he decided to come home and spend his last days in hospice care. I went up there (central Illinois) Friday to support the family, and got there a few hours after he came home. Saturday the hospice nurse thought he was fading faster than they thought, and he might only have a day or two left. He passed away about 2:00 Sunday morning. The funeral was this past weekend.

I'm bringing this up mostly to make a plea. He didn't like his picture taken; I went back through 20 years of photos and only found about 15-20 of him, and friends and family couldn't find many more. Those photos were worth more than you can imagine to sis and the kids. So please. Even if you don't like having your picture taken, or a loved one doesn't - take the pictures. Give the family something to remember the happy times.

I'm so sorry about your brother-in-law. And remembering that, while we have an active photographer in the house, that sometimes means there aren't very many photos of HIM. Will get on it.

Yeah. Cats are not quite family, but I'm trying to be better about taking pictures of them in the good times (and the random times). My 15 year old girl (see icon) isn't doing well this week. Took her to the vet, so she got an antibiotic shot and fluids.. but she's 15+. I've been taking more photos of her randomly sleeping since her brother passed away a couple of years ago, and they'll be a comfort.

Cats are family, but the pain of losing human in the prime of their life and losing at beloved furball at their allotted time is different. Not easier or harder, but the regrets aren't the same.

I've moved her to a different heater vent (with an ottoman to rest on) next to my chair as she's not letting me cuddle her on my lap.

(On the other hand, the 20+ year old cat is doing a good job of reminding me that she's still hungry and would like some gushy food even if the other old lady isn't interested. I'm not sure why she's still alive, but my theory is she's been a zombie for the last 11 years)
