Founding Inspiration

Na-Nex-Se, the widow of Black Hoof, chief of the Shawnee Native American tribe. When the town where I live was created in 1869, the founders decided to honor her by naming the city "Lenexa" after her.
This statue originally lived at the 'old' Lenexa City Hall complex (which wasn't built all that long ago), and was moved to the new Lenexa City Center last year when the 'new' City Hall opened. Frankly, I think its older setting was prettier. ^^;;
