Not quite pointillist...

I took this pic as a help to someone who was trying to decide between two lenses; since I had copies of both, I offered to take some test shots to show how each lens rendered. They were especially interested in the out-of-focus rendering (bokeh) of the two lenses, so I tried to get at least a few extreme cases into the tests. This was one of the wildest; it almost seems like a pointillist painting. ^^;;

Date: 2018-10-16 03:12 am (UTC)The first one has a warmer color (though that can be adjusted in editing). The main grass stalk is also sharper. So those things, I prefer in the first pic.
However, the out-of-focus highlights on the first pic are more distinct and call attention to themselves, which is usually not what you want; you want people to pay attention to the subject, not the background. So in that sense, I prefer the second pic.
