Not in the Country

This is in the middle of a college campus (University of Kansas). For some reason, this pic kinda reminds me of a place out in the country; even the worn street kinda feels like a country road to me.

Is it just me? Am I crazy? ^^;;

I think it's the woodedness that makes it read kinda country, although the architecture looks more college-y to me?

Yeah, that's generally how I see the architecture... but look at it in the right way, and the large boxy building at center could almost be a barn... the memorial at left a silo, and the tower at right a church or a gabled house...

Totally tangentially, I've read Anne of Green Gables and still have no idea what a gable is! I Googled it just now. XD

(In general my English vocabulary for landscape, flora, and architecture is impoverished because it was mostly my mom who discussed that stuff...in Korean.)

(In all honesty, I was thinking of a house with a towered roof like the pic they use as an example for the Mansard roof.)
