The reality is rather more mundane; the Flying Boxcar was a post-WWII military air freighter, notable for the unusual twin-tail design. This particular example is from the Strategic Air and Space Museum southwest of Omaha, Nebraska. The museum was originally founded as the Strategic Air Command museum at SAC headquarters, Offutt Air Force Base; it was moved to the current location about 20 years ago, to make it more accessible to the public.
