A sense of dignity?

Another one of the test pics I took for the DP Review forum, this one from what I insist on calling the Penn Station Memorial. ^^;;

I do appreciate the wish to honor the Eagle Scouts. And it is kinda cool to be able to see the sculptural grouping:

right up close. But that's a poor second to seeing it where it really belonged: above the East entrance to the original Penn Station in NYC. That was a truly great and classic building, and tearing it down was both a tragedy and a travesty.
I've been to this monument several times, but reading the sign made me realize: it's been 50 years since the station was torn down. In another couple of years, the station will have been destroyed for as long as it was standing. It was designed to last a century or more... and was torn down just a little more than 50 years after it was built. We should be ashamed as a species.
